Did you mean 1958 or 1959?
I ask because I have SN 143XX and thought it was 1959.

Hi, I am acquiring a 2008 Smith & Wesson model 41 with 7 inch barrel. Looking forward to mounting a Red Dot Scope and noticed yours which looks great, compact and nice clean lines. Just wandering if you can provide me some details on the scope mount and where / cost to obtain it? Thanks for your time, Cheers, Keith.

Default S&W Model 46 5 inch barrel

Well , I have enjoyed seeing all your Model 41's and have been looking for one for many years but could never find one to fit my pocketbook. But all's well I did buy a Model 46 S&W from a fellow officer on the Teaneck PD NJ who was on the pistol team with me, he had bought it brand new but threw the box away, but I bought it anyway for $175.00 ( it has a 5 digit serial 276xx) as I used it to snap in before shooting either my Model 14-2 w/6inch barrel or if I was allowed I fired my Model 52-2 in the competition and usually won for our Team by shooting out the Bullseye. After the match the officers on the other team wanted to shoot my 52-2 and they were amazed how it shot, they also fired my 46 and liked that one too, pretty soon word got around and other dept's in other cities and other States where we also competed also bought S&W Model 41's as a snap in weapon and even had some matches with those. Well you know how Cops are, there was always burgers and Beer at the matches but I never imbibed as I was the youngest officer so I was the designated driver, but always won a case of Beer ( we always took a marked patrol car) but by the time we got back to NJ they were all asleep and snoring. So when we got back to our town I would park the car, take my guns out of the trunk and go in and sign out and left them in the car, telling the Sgt. or Lt. to wake them up LOL.I still have the 46 but was wondering if a 41 barrel would fit on a 46 frame, anybody know? I have a few other semi-auto's, a S&W 45-06, a Walther PP Sport, and 2 Hi-Standards.

Default S&W Model 46 5 inch barrel

Well gentlemen I have enjoyed seeing all your Model 41's but alas I only have a Model 46 w/ 5inch barrel but looks like new has about 95% of original bluing and still shoots out the black Bullseye, 5 digit serial 276xx, with two mags also looks like new but I have taken good care of it over the last 60 years, bought it for $ 175.00 from a fellow officer who was also on our Teaneck PD NJ pistol team back in the early 60's. I was just out of the USMC had just married so I couldn't afford a Model 41 and my Lt. loaned me the use of his Model 14-2 w/ 6 inch barrel so I could shoot on the pistol team ( he later gave it to me when he retired after 45 years on the PD) The guy I got the 46 from I paid him off on time as I really liked the grip as It felt like a .45 1911A1 which I shot expert with in the Corps. One Question I have, does a Model 41 barrel fit on a 46 frame? I think they must as they sure look the same as far as locking up they do come apart the same by pulling down the trigger guard.

Was laid off/retired on Christmas eve last year so I treated myself and picked my one and only m41 last month. Came with both barrels and two magazines. The dealer had three more mags in original blister pack for $10 apiece, so I grabbed them.

Was bought by original owner in 1997 and looks like brand new. I had to really oil the trigger guard release since the original owner must not have shot in many years and was really dried out. Also, one of the magazines will not drop/eject when the release is pressed. I figured I will have to see where it is holding up later.

Have shoot over 600 rounds through both barrels and can verify it shoots much, much better than me so far.

I should not have waited this long -

Regards ------------
