Any comments. I might order a few boxes. Wondering how these cycle.

I prefer standard velocity ammo in my 41s. From what I saw on a velocity chart, the Wildcat High velocity only develops that 1200 figure in riffles, and that in a handgun they were in the lower 1060 range. Most standard velocity ammo for the pistols is in the 900 range.

I agree with smithfan4152, If you look at the curves, any high velocity 22 rimfire ammunition really adds relatively little in speed to standard vel ammunition out of a short barrel.
It does add battering to the pistol. Blowback actions have to be designed for specific recoil (a combination of slide weight and spring tension), when a higher impulse round is used it may not add much velocity to the bullet, but does add force to the recoil.

I also agree. Standard Velocity only in my quality vintage guns. Depending on when or if the springs were ever replaced, you can damage the gun. High Standard Supermatics are famous for cracking the frames with ammo that is too hot for the condition of the gun. I tried Aguila Subsonic in one of my 1960's 41's and it would not cycle the action reliably. I have found that some of my 22's are very ammo specific. I go conservativly up the scale until I get reliability and stay as low speed as possible. I cringe when I hear talk about shooting Stingers in older guns.

Reason for my question is that WW are the only 22LR available at this time. Otherwise I would not buy them. The shelves are empty around here. The WW would be ordered and received as a backorder. Thanks for your replies.

I have a M41 mfg in 1979, I bought it new, and it has had a LOT (80,000 rds plus) of Win Super X ammo thru it with no broken parts to date.
I replace the recoil spring yearly.
I do not shoot anything hot, like the hyper velocity shells

I would bet the wildcat shells are loaded to about the same speed as the Super X's, check Winchester's web site.

One last thing, the reason I use the Super X shell is the std velocity would not cycle reliabity, and the Super X does, plus it groups really well.

The last 5000 rounds I purchased on GB I thought was very reasonable.
Much cheaper than the Federal Gold Medal 711B.

I have shot Winhester Wildcat in my 1968 S&W Model 41 with 7 inch barrel and they all shot well. This was very old ammo and it just didn't group all that well.

I've been told that if the juncture where the slide forward extension meets the larger rear portion of the slide is a sharp right angle, using HS ammo can cause a crack there. If that juncture is rounded, the problem does not exist. My 41 was made in 1971 and has that sharp angle. Later guns, I'm not sure when, had the rounded juncture specifically as an answer to that problem.
