Default 4566 shoots low

Just bought a little used 4566 in it's box w/all paperwork and spent shell case ect. I've loaded several powder weights w/Tightgroup and Win. 231 with a FMJ 230 gr. ball type bullet, and it shoots low all the time. Now, it could be me, but in case it's not, what would you 3rd gen. guys reccommend as a starting point for my reloads? Lighter bullet? Powder change? Any help is appreciated. My old 4506 didn't do this.

I am not qualified to advise you on what loading might work, but I did want to point out that S&W made a few different height front sights for the 45XX series.

Perhaps a lower front sight might eliminate the problem for you. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

as long as your loads are near what standard ball velocities.....I would make sure its not you first.

Having time behind your 06 and not having this issue, you may need a shorter front sight.

I had the same issue with a 4566TSW, called S&W and they replaced the front sight with a shorter one.

Thank you fellas, all good advise. Didn't know about the front sight, I'll check that out. I'm going to put more rounds down range and see if I don't see some "self-imposed" improvment.
