3rd Gen. 45 ACP Magazine Follower?
I know this has been covered numerous times, but searches with various terms, just gave me a head ache.
Is the black follower current for the third generation pistols such as the 4566 TSW?
Was the progression, Yellow, White, and finally black?

I bought a 4506 when they first hit the market back in 1989. Mine cane with orange followers, as well as the ones in the replacement magazines that Smith shipped out to replace those in the recall. My '95 4506-1 that I have now came with orange as well.

Correct. The 1000 Series (10mm) magazine followers were first yellow, then white.

Thanks guys.
I checked my 10mm magazines (I have an embarrassingly large bunch of them) they are all in fact white.
My 4516 came (new) in 1991 with yellow, I have replaced two with black, I think I will count magazines and put in an order for followers to S&W.

old Roger,
the yellow follow mags also came with yellow painted mag springs.
they are weak compared to current SW production.
make sure to update with fresh mag springs too.
sorry, this will cost you some extra $$.

There were actually two versions of white followers. On the earlier ones, the front edge of the follower is smooth. On the later ones, there is a shallow groove cut into the center of the front edge. I never had problems with either type, but I replaced all my followers with new ones anyway so they now all have the groove. I also replaced all the factory springs with Wolff +5% ones.
