Default 945 Compact?

Anyone here have one of these, and if so, are you willing to offer some feedback on them?

Hi
I have one that I got recently and am very impressed. I have been a 1911 guy for many years and I feel this is the ultimate 1911 carry gun. I have about 250 rounds thorough it so far with no problems. It is accurate , 2" at 25 yd handheld from a good rest.Just can't say enough good about this gun. I have been shooting a full sized one for a while and like it a lot, but not really a carry gun but this one is! I still have to find a good holster, when I do this one will replace my custom Colt lightweight Officers Model as primary carry.

That is the new release of the 3 1/4" version. The top pic of mine is the original version.

If it shoots as well as the one I have it will be fantastic. Mine is the BEST shooting sub compact 45 I have ever fired. I have tried a few....
With 230 grain bullets it's a tack driver.

Go for it, you wont be sorry,
Bob

Well, OK then. Like I said in another post, I've been looking for a modern update of my two Detonics. I love them both, but for carry purposes would prefer something a little newer.

One last question Bob (both Bobs!) is where can you find spare mags for it? I like having six or eight mags fo each auto when I head to the range.

I got some mags from Midway. The full size mags function fine in my gun, just stick out a ways.

You can also modify standard factory mag (cheap) to fit.

It helps to know a smith/ machinist . The only difference in the mags is where the slot for the mag release is located on the mag body.

Well, I won the auction for the 945 and it should be here this week. I also found that S&W actually has the magazines for sale on their site. I ordered six, but of course they called me to say they were back ordered for two to four weeks.

Now it's time to find a holster or two!

Congrats on the 945.

Check out High Noon Holsters. I have a tailgunner that I use IWB and I have a DeSantis Mini Slide for OWB.

Both holsters work perfectly.

Enjoy,
Bob

Hey Bob, I got hold of High Noon and asked them about getting a tailgunner for my 3 1/4 945, and they said they couldn't make me one! Their response was:

Hi Mike,

We can not make anything for that gun. We do not have a casting.

Take Care
William

So, I'm confused. Are the 945 Compacts the same size as a Colt Defender?

I emailed Smith about the one I just bought and asked why I couldn't find it in the Performance Center section of the website. I got this in response:

The model is not a standard catalog item it is a small production run from the Performance Center.

That's funny about the holsters. They made one for my 3 1/4" one and also for my 3 3/4" one as well.

We may have used the mold for the CS 45. It has been a while, so I am not sure.

Default Holster for the 945

I know this is a very old thread but this is for someone just coming across it. There were many questions about a holster for the 945.

The Fobus C-21B is made for a compact "1911" type pistol, specifically the S&W 945. This is an OWB paddle holster. The C-21 holster is made for a full size "1911."

You can check them out at http://www.fobusholster.com/index.htm and find them on Ebay for an inexpensive price. I have a few Fobus holsters so far and love them.

Just FYI.....

I've owned several. Superb in every respect. Got rid of them for ONLY one reason: at the time there was not a good choice of holsters for concealed carry. Since then that has improved somewhat.

I can't believe anyone would put such a fine weapon into a Fobus holster. You may as well drag it behind the car.

I have had good success with standard 1911 holsters.
