Anyone work for Winchester, Federal, Remington, etc?
Hello
Just reading rumors, but...
I have read Wally World is simply selling what they have in stock so as not to get hit hard with ammo taxes somewhere down the turnpike.
Are these companies still turning out ammo like they use to?
Sorry to waste bandwidth on a repeated or stupid question.
I am scared to shoot my 9mm because I do not want to pay $35+ for ammo I used to pay $9 for.
Yea, I work at Winchester and I got a whole basement full of ammo, employees get it for wholesale cost of materials, that is therefore 2.50 for a box of .357 Silvertips and I buy boxes of .380s for 2.00 and resell them for 30$ a box to friends. Bricks of Super X .22 for the cost of one box of 50. Well that is all a total fiction, but I just wanted to see if I could make you cry!

I haven't heard that rumor, but it seems to me that with the recent run on ammo, the whole Walmart organization would have been out of ammo permanantly a long time ago. They usually were not big on stocking a lot of ammo at any one store. So, unless they had millions of rounds hidden in a warehouse somewhere that they only release on a whim to certain stores, I think it is only an internet myth.
I talked to a Walmart rep in the sporting goods section. I asked him, since they're selling all the ammo that they can get in, why they didn't order more than they do.
His answer was: We can only order once a month and just a certain amount even though they could sell more.

You owe me pair of boxers.
I am close to Alton, Illinois. I toured the Winchester plant years ago (before my dumb self enjoyed handguns) and did not appreciate it like I do now. It is rare in the past year to see a brick of 22LR Winchester (any type) for less than $30-$40.
