Sone idiot in S&W's marketing department who must hot have handled guns much killed their 8 3/8" barrels by thinking all barrel lengths would sell better if they looked like Pythons. The 8 3/8" barrels with full under slugs are too heavy for most people.

I'll add to your wish list a 617 with the same 8 3/8" barrel used on 17s prior to full lug barrels.

Yeah, that guy was a real "Rocket Surgeon".

I have a 686 with an 8-3/8" barrel and it's just a tad heavy but it sure does shoot!

Sign me up for a Model 620 with an 8-3/8! I think that's be a fantastic shooter.

Here's another suggestion for S&W with the 2 piece barrels. They should buy a Dan Wesson, study how simple and easy the user interchangable barrel system is, then duplicate it!

I sometimes wondered if I was the only person who didn't like the full-length under-lug barrel. Apparently not.
