Only 10mm in the carry rotation is a G29 (w. G20 mag). A 10mm M?P would replace it ...Too bad the clowns running the show at S&W are stubborn.

Step away from your S&W spell just long enough to check out the SA XDM 10mm. They have quite good aftermarket triggers available too.
Seriously.

I've been singing this tune since I got mine. $600 at Grabagun and you can't go wrong.

I see a P320 10mm is on the horizon now as well with two prototypes being shown at SHOT this year.....looks like S&W will miss the boat entirely

I might consider a P320 version, if it has an optics cut from the factory, which I am sure it will.

I have the 5.25" 10mm XDM and installed a PRP trigger kit in it.
When I decided on a 10mm I was afraid I'd have to settle for a Glock. The Glock grip is not my friend.

10mm is becoming popular again. S&W is missing the boat.

A lot of guys, myself included, are ditching their heavy revolvers for woods protection.

M&P 2.0 in 10mm 5 inch. Yes!

Wanted to get my vote in just in case someone from S&W would look in on this forum.

Just for the heck of it, I looked up the last time S&W produced a semiautomatic 10mm pistol, and unless I'm missing something, they haven't made any semiautomatic pistols chambered in 10mm Auto since the 90s.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that if there was significant enough demand for an M&P10mm, then at the very least somebody would have developed a 10mm Conversion Kit for the M&P45 in order to capitalize on said demand.
And before you say it wouldn't work, that hasn't stopped aftermarket parts manufacturers from making all sorts of stuff for the Sigma Series which is more often than not detrimental towards reliability, yet folks continue to buy them regardless.

Default Imagine, M&P, L frame, Ketec Carbine

A L Frame 10mm might be my last forever revolver. I’ve wrote KelTec to make their folding Carbine in 10mm too.

Glock has been making plastic 10mm pistols for a fair number of years. Springfield released theirs not too long ago. I'm sure S&W can figure it out, if they wanted.

Maybe have Springco design the recoil assembly under contract.

Obviously, S&W doesn't want my 10mm money. Glock and Springfield do.

[Edit: I should have said my 10mm semi-auto money...they already got my 10mm revolver money].

I quit waiting. Got the RIA 52009 1911a2 in 10mm. Might get a Glock 40MOS at some point as a woods pistol.

I would like to issue a word of warning though. I suspect that when these are packed in the Phillipines, they dip a massive ladle into a drum of oil, and dump a cup or so into the plastic bag, drop the pistol in it, then seal it up. I haven't actually seen a new pistol DRIP on the counter before. At least it didn't rust while wandering on the Pacific Ocean loaded in a tramp steamer picking up coconuts and Hyundais before coming to the states.

You hear that CH4? Have them shake them off before sealing the bag!

If you get tired of waiting, do what I did.

Get Springfield XDM 10mm.

Smith doesn’t appear to be real motivated to give folks a plastic auto in 10mm. There’s the several 10mm choices from Glock, et al. I love my G29 for the woods carry and occasional CCW. I like the flexibility of having different size magazines.

Next up for me is a Glock M40 MOS 10mm long slide.

If S&W is willing to make a .500 revolver, creating a 10mm M&P should be easy. Good Lord, just beef up a .45 and create a sturdy recoil assembly.

Great choice....my favorite for woods carry, and super accurate.
So while the 'brains' at S&W add more models to the already over bloated list of 9mms, Glock and others are making and selling many 10mms to those of us who want a lot more than what little a tiny-9 has to offer.

When the 10mm was first introduced I bought a Springfield Omega in 10mm. Like many early 10mm guns it was a 45 with stronger recoil assembly. Also like many of those 45 conversion it broke with less than 1000 rounds through it.

If S&W does make a 10mm I hope they design it to be a 10mm from the start.

10mm Glocks stand up just fine. And a STRONGER recoil assembly isn't what I was thinking of. A staged or progressive spring, maybe dual spring, maybe license the Springco design. LOTS of solutions.

10mm XDM is beefy as hell. Fully supported chamber, substantial parts obviously designed for 10mm. The gun is physically a bit larger than the M&P guns. Recoil with full power loads is substantial, but not painful at all. Much better than 1911 in 10mm.

I recommend it for those who want the Smith 10mm that may never exist.

Unfortunately I don't think S&W would ever make another 10mm unless the FBI decided they wanted another one which is why the old S&Ws were made and then unceremoniously dropped in the first place. Until then my 1006 has been shooting full power 10mm since before I was born and will probably still be able to do it long after I'm gone.

Has anyone ever tried making an online petition for an M&P10mm?

I ask because if folks really want this so badly, then the only way it's going to happen is if people convince Smith & Wesson that it would be profitable to produce it. I imagine that a petition with lots of signatures may provide an incentive to at least give it a shot with a limited run.
So yeah, why not file an online petition, spread the word around on forums, maybe see if you could get a YouTuber who loves 10mm like Military Arms Channel to help promote it, and just see what happens?

Downers will say that online petitions never work, but I've seen a handful of them work before, it's merely a matter of getting enough signatures.

still waiting...........

I've got a great RIA 1911a2 in 10mm, but its heavy and all carbon steel. A lighter polymer 10mm that I can carry stomping in the remote woods here in Washington is what I'd really like.

We have grizzlies and aggressive cougars here in Washington, especially in the areas we frequent.

Way back, I had a Glock 20 and shot it regularly side by side with steel 1911's and Tanfoglio and I wound up feeling there no need for polymer in that caliber, and the Glock is long gone.

I really, REALLY like my 5" M&P in .40 but I can't see what S&W would bring to the table with a polymer 10mm M&P that is already available in a Glock or Tanfoglio (actually a pretty well done 10mm) that have a positive track record.

I bet S&W execs feel the same way.

I can't imagine why not. They'd steal some sales from Glock 20 and XDM.

Judging by the number of posts I see on gun forums and looking at YouTube videos the surge of interest in 10mm seems to be fading. When I go to the gun club I always look at the brass lying on the ground to see what people are shooting and have been seeing less 10mm than I used to. Although that could be because the reloaders that don't bother picking up 9 and 45 aren't going to let a 10mm case lie on the ground very long.

The 10mm is certainly not going to die. It has a number of dedicated fans that will not let it happen. And for good reason, it can do things a 9mm or 45 cannot. But it is no longer the cartridge all the cool kids on YouTube are talking about.

I still hope S&W makes a 10mm M&P but have to wonder how many they would sell. They might be too late to really cash in on the 10mm's resurgence.

I think you hit on something. I see less .40 brass than a few years ago. That reflects a decline in .40 popularity, since .40 isn't much if a reloader's cartridge.. But I know that I scarf up every 10mm case I see laying on the ground.

I got fed up with waiting on an M&P10mm a long time ago and earlier this year ended up going in a completely different direction due to ammo shortages and jacked up prices on 10mm Auto Pistols.

Now I own a Heckler & Koch USP45 Elite and a few boxes of .45 Super. Similar ballistics to 10mm Auto, but with a larger diameter bullet. It scratched the itch and then some.

My H&K USP45 Elite has arrived!-h-k_usp45_elite_45_super-hq-jpg

Now I've got 10mm Ballistics with the awesome knockdown power of a .45 caliber bullet!

I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up, but this pic has been going around another gun forum I frequent. I really hope it’s legit.

10mm is a meme cartridge. s&w would do well to not waste precious r&d resources towards such a project

You are so right! Smith should stick with the tried and true 10 series. Look at what a 1006 is going for on GB. They’d sell for sure. One can wish can’t one 🙂

A couple years ago, I was interested in a Henry Big Boy lever action
rifle, but with a side loading gate. Henry made only 3 rifles with
side loading gates at that time. I called the factory and spoke with
a woman about the possibility of more models being offered with
side loading gates. She stated as far as she knew there were no
new models being offered this way and no plans for it in the future.
So lo and behold, a month later, several of the Henry models
including the Big Boy appear on the market with side loading
gates. This proves the factories
do not always tell the truth and anything can happen. I have owned
2 Glock 20s, a Gen2 and a Gen4, but have since sold all my Glocks
as I could never adapt to a grip made at the wrong angle and as
uncomfortable as gripping a 2X4. Now my only 10 mm is a 1911 5 inch.
It is a good gun for shooting, but it weighs 40 ounces unloaded. Not
something I am going to carry all day in my advanced years. An M&P
2.0 in 10mm would fill the void nicely. Seems to me that it would be
relatively simple to use the M&P 2.0 45 for a base to develop the 10mm
version.

Any context to go with the pic? It sort of looks like a tag/bag that would go with a cheap magazine holster, and I cannot help but wonder if that's exactly what it is, just something from a cheap bootleg holster or otherwise an official product made in a country where .40 S&W is called 10mm Short.

I don't want to dash your hopes and it would be really nice if it were true, but it's just not very compelling evidence that an M&P10mm is coming. I'd ask whatever "industry insider" who originally posted that pic to show something a little more convincing.

I have no reliable info to go with it, unfortunately. The person that posted it said the pic was sent to them by a friend who’s a S&W dealer here in the US. It’s supposedly a display stand send to the dealer by S&W. And that’s all the info they have at this point. I’m definitely trying not to get my hopes up, but if is legit, I’ll be beyond ecstatic.

I too would be quite pleased if Smith & Wesson were to at last offer an M&P10mm, although I no longer have a need for one myself, more options for 10mm Auto Pistols is good all around, and I'd be happy for everyone else who has continued waiting on one all this time.

Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic and perhaps even a touch bitter that only now that I've settled on an alternative do they finally decide it's time to make a 10mm M&P, not that I regret getting the USP45 Elite in the slightest as I wanted it anyway, merely that I would have bought one years ago if they hadn't dragged their feet about it for so darn long.

I imagine that if this indeed is true then Smith & Wesson is making an M&P10mm, then they ought to be announcing it by SHOT Show come January.

Tell your friend to give whatever dealer sent him that a whoopin' if it turns out to be false, you hear?!

Someone at S&W must have jumped the gun. The URL has gone 404. For those of you that missed it S&W was showing a 10mm M&P with an optics cut. Available with 4 or 4.6 inch barrels, with or without a thumb safety. It will have a 15 round capacity, the same trigger as the Shield Plus and weigh about 29 ounces with the longer barrel.
