Default How about producing revolvers for the UK Market?

Hi All

I'm a UK shooter and am restricted to pistols/revolvers with a minimum barrel length of 12" and a minimum Overall length of 2ft! So we end up with revolvers with a long barrel and an 8-10" rod sticking out the butt of the revolver (pictures below)

Now some of us have got used to it, it's amazing what no choice allows you to accept, but very few manufacturers produce firearms that meet these characteristics (Taurus, Alpha, GSG are pretty much it)

Anyway, the point of this post is that we need a quality manufacture (that's you S&W ) to consider maufacturing revolvers and .22 semi's to a UK spec. you would have customers lining up to purchase tomorrow if only you produced them - top of my list would be:

M&P .22
686 .357 mag
629 .44 mag

anyone any thoughts?

What a sad mess. This is why gridlock is so much better. Rather no laws passed then that kind. The little stick out the back is just awful and might not fly here if atf wanted to call it a stock. Then its an sbr. I could see this having a price of $2000 for a lot of reasons. How many would sell at that price? Thanks for spot lighting what will happen if we loose over here.

Sorry to be a smart-aleck...but what they've told you is simply: "you can't shoot revolvers in the U.K."

I don't think that even the Rossi Ranch Hand would fit the bill due to the OAL requirement.

S&W does make the X frames with longer than 12" barrels, might be worth investigating.
By the way, welcome to the forum Colin! Dale

It may be easier to get the law changed than to get guns made to those specs.

if you get enough buyers together ,minimum of 500pcs i think, s&w would probably consider it.
s&w produced a 686 and a 629 in 4 1/4" for the canadian market, 4 " being prohibited. they just needed enough of a market to make it worthwhile to do a limited run.
thanks s&w, i love my 629! now how 'bout a m17 in 4 1/4!

What UK market?..... As I understand it the greater hand gun market in the UK is satisfied by Polish and ex Soviet state smugglers and overwhelmingly consists of cheaply made 9mm semi autos and older surplus Tokarev's?.
