Default What's your dream gun?

I'm a big fan of 1911s. I drool over those Wilson combat supergrades all the time (oh hey look at my profile picture). I'd love to own one, but at $5,000 I know I'd be afraid to take it out of the safe. My Sig 1911 is great and all, and if I'm pulling a trigger the Sig runs flawlessly. I can't justify buying my dream gun, and I can't find a practical use for it. I'll eventually put Wilson parts in my Sig and customize it a little, since I can't find a reason to have two of the same gun.

Other dream guns of mine have a plan of action, and are a lot more obtainable. My shotgun of choice is a riot gun, and a Mossberg. My eyes are on the Mossberg 500 mariner, and I've seen those under $500.

My ar is an m&p-10, and I'll have the base for my build before the end of February, and it'll be fully built by summer.

As far as other semi auto sporting rifles, I like the fn fal better than the ak47, and I like the ak47 better than the ar15, but that build is lower on my list.

I know, I'll get a revolver eventually. My eyes are on the m&p10 then the Mossberg 500 then the revolver is next in line. I just haven't researched them and picked one out. I like dad's 357mag with the 6" barrel and I like the chief's special j-frame. I just haven't wrote them down on my list

What's your dream gun and/or next project going to be?

non-realistic... HK mp5 auto. Realistic....performance center SW1911 custom, product# 170343. Not a 1911 guy, but this gun could make me one. Best looking pistol I've ever seen. She'll find her way home one day, just not today.

My dream revolver is one that shoots 20 times without reloading, like the ones in the movies do.

My dream semi is one that blows up buildings, cars, and bad guys without ever missing, like the ones in the movies do.

Now, as far as real life goes, if I could really have the gun I want, it would be a Ed Brown Kobra Carry, with my initials on both sides of the slide and no other markings except a custom serial number consisting of my initials and 4 numbers that have significance to me.

My dream gun is my dad's S&W model 28 4" serial # S307656 that he gave away. I'd give just about anything to get it.

...or that fully automatic pistol with flush fitting magazines that have 100 round capacity. That was a cool gun.

And if it's a dream gun, the serial number can be your first middle and last name, no numbers are required.

I always thought the polished stainless steel or nickel 1911s and PPks would be nice presentation guns, if I had one of those glass coffee tables with guns inside. Realistically one day I might find a, well kept, used M&P R8. I don't see myself ever buying a new one.

I'd honestly like to have an authentic H&K 416 - not a civilian version, but a real honest to goodness mil-standard.

I also recently got to play with an H&K UMP 45 at my gun range, and let me tell you, that thing is a beast.

From a revolver perspective, I'd love to have a Colt Python - but I'd not be able to keep it in the safe. I'd have to play with it, as I'm not a collector for collecting sake. I want to play with my toys.

I actually got to play with one of these earlier in 2013. It was nice, but maybe I just hyped it up too much in my mind, as I was left feeling a little empty (no pun intended, haha).

Actually, I am pretty easy to please. A 342 with no lock would do it.

Admittedly, my existing 642-1 with a titanium cylinder installed is pretty close.

But, it would be fun to have the real thing.

Actually a pair would be best since SWMBO would also want one.

Now, if I win a lottery, we can turn this dream into reality. Yeah, sure, kid . . .

LOL! Maybe I could make the ID even easier by having my fingerprints engraved on the frame somewhere.

I stand corrected! Anything full auto puts a boyish grin on my face. Well, as long as somebody else paid the $12000 for the gun and they're supplying the ammo.

Some dreams are unrealistic. I'd take a 50 cal machine gun and armor piercing and incendiary rounds, or a mark 19 automatic belt fed grenade launcher with high explosive and incendiary rounds... Or the gun that the a-10 ground pounder is attached to.

I started bullseye shooting many years ago and had my wish list early on. I had a specific 22, 38 and 45 on that list and got all 3 of them. After that I picked up guns that appealed to me and not sure what else I'd want right now.

Thought more about this after I wrote it. I buy what I want, if those are dream guns then that's what it is. About the only ones I won't buy are Glocks and Taurus's

I was looking at "custom 1911s" and I came across this...

That is just beautiful. I would love to own a 1911 that was engraved to that extent.

Other than that, I would love to have a PS90.

Those are very beautiful guns. They remind me of royalty, like a king's sword. I see adds like that in the magazines. I think one advertises an "Ed Brown customs" (I'm very unsure of the name 'Ed Brown') gun, and other ads advertise engraving services.

I think I'm eventually going to buy a nice blued 1911 and send it in for engraving. I don't care much for name brands, I judge a gun by it's quality. I could easily buy an average every day s&w 1911, have it engraved, and call it "Beamanater customs"

The gun pictured is around $7k. I am somewhat familiar with Ed Brown guns. They are very high end. I'd never pay that for a gun but its nice and a guy can dream. I believe I'd like to have a nice stainless 1911. I did see a mini S&W 1911 on another forum that was nice.

My dream guns are my uncle C's 1911 US Property Navy Match, and my 1966, Colt 1911 Nat'l Match. I sent the gun to Wilson Combat in 1991. They replaced all internal parts, Black teflon coating. It still shoots 7 shots all in the x ring at 10 yards. Still new and tight. DW

Fully ambidextrous M&P Shield 9mm just like the full size M&P's. I am a lefty and have 2 of the full size M&P 9's and love them because they are ambidextrous but are too big for EDC. I have a Shield 9 for EDC but wish it were had an ambidextrous slide release and safety. I would even be willing to pay someone to modify my Shield to have the ambi slide release if that can be done.

Yeah, there's so much stuff you can do with $7,000... Too much to buy a safe queen. I could have a fully built hunting rifle and all kinds of hunting gear and a hunting trip for that much money...... Or a 1911 so beautiful and expensive I'd be afraid to shoot it.

I don't understand why they don't have left handed or right handed guns. I figure you should be able to buy a gun in right or left hand setup, or go ambidextrous as an upgrade feature for a few more dollars. If I owned a gun company, my main guns would come either ambidextrous or you choose right or left handed. I think savage does that with their rifles, but I'm right handed so I've never paid any attention to it.

Oh and I'm sure Ed Brown is a nice gun and all but when I said I'm unsure of ed brown customs it's because I couldn't remember if the company was named "ed brown" or "john brown" or "Richard Blue..."

The one I have dreamed up in my head right now. I have all the rest.

I'm going to be building a PDWish AR-15 pistol with a 7" barrel. I have a full parts list drawn out...just waiting to pull the trigger, so to speak.

It's going to be an exercise in excess and impracticality, but should be a hoot.

Everyone needs at least one gun just for fun.

A right and left ejection 12ga belt fed auto shotguns clamped together.

This would make weed whacking fun.

90% of guns are just for fun. What guns do you need? Home and carry in my opinion. Used 12 gauge riot guns in my area are Mossberg 500s or remington 870s from the ga prison run $150-200, and the place that sells them has a gunsmith inspect them to make sure they work, since that gun store buys 20 at a time at auction. Carry guns can be j frames or ruger Lcp/lc9. All your gun NEEDs are done at $600-750.

That's all just my opinion though. I've got 22s, 1911s, handguns, shotguns and rifles. No revolvers yet.

Sorry about the rant and I agree everyone should have a fun gun, I just think 8 out of 10 of your guns are fun guns

I've got a few...unfortunately none are very realistic:

S&W 627 prelock Bloodwork ($2500+)
Dan Wesson 10mm Titan (double stack 1911) ($4000-5000)
S&W M&P 10mm (nonexistent)
a pristine 1st Gen Colt SAA (probably $15K or more)
A nice, 90%+ all original 5" Reg Magnum (don't even know, but pretty sure I'd lose that auction)

My favorite movie gun was in a vampire movie that I've forgotten the name to... But the main character has two fully automatic pistols that she shoots the floor in a circle around her feet with to make her fall through so she can escape the werewolves that were chasing her.

I'd love a pair of machine pistols with infinite magazine capacity

A phaser from the USS Enterprise.
Small enough to conceal, effective, yet tasteful not tacky.

I'm pretty happy but I'd really like a 1911. Something in the Les Baer line, I think...

Les Baer makes some incredibly nice 1911s. That's the $2,000 range I believe. In the $1,000 area I stay with Sig, kimber, and s&w. I love 1911s, but since they're popular now everyone makes one and there's plenty of junk ones out there. I had a Magnum research 1911 full of problems from inaccurate to fail to eject to fail to fire. Just horrible. My Sig is amazing though
