Default Model 27 or 627 8 shot with traditional half lug barrel.

Since this is the wish list forum, I wish that Smith & Wesson would come out with an 8 shot square butt model 27 or 627 that has a traditional half lug barrel on it, preferably in 5" length. I have a 627-5 Pro with the 4" barrel and it is a very nice shooting weapon, but I think the slab sided barrel is as ugly as the south side of a northbound dog.

I can live with the lock and the MIM parts, but I think the lack of a traditional looking 8 shot N frame 357 is a lost sales opportunity for S&W and I think that they would move well. And if they build them in a model 27, make them available in both blue and bright nickel finish too.

I would be in for one of each finish myself!

They actually made a 4" non-slab side 8 shot right before the pro series with the 4" slab side replaced it in 2008 or 2009, standard brushed finish too not bead blasted. I have one but rarely see them come up for sale. I agree I wish they would bring it back and maybe have 4-5-6" versions without the slab side barrel or bead blast finish.

Yeah, that looks better, SLT223, but that must be a heavy barrel version. I rather the barrel profile that my 27-2's and my 27-5 have since they are a bit slimmer.
