I want a new double action breaktop
I may be an oddball, but I would love to see S&W (or anyone), make a modern double action break top revolver again. I used to have some British ones (Enfield and Webley) in 38 S&W. But it would be awesome to have one that shot 38 special or even 357 magnum. I know it can be done, the Ruskies had a prototype one in 357 several years back.

I'd settle for .44 special or .45acp (or auto rim)

I think a 38 and 45 would be decent sellers given the wide variety ammo. And with the 38 and 45 being lower pressure rounds, it would be the most feasible. Having owned the Brit guns, I would think a K/L frame sized gun would be ideal and balance well. I still regret selling those old warhorses, even if 38 S&W is a pricey gun to shoot if you don't reload.

If you could guarantee they could sell at least 5000 S&W might make one. But considering 90% of their customers want bottom feeders, the odds of them tooling up for a top break is pretty small.
