Default 627 with the half lug light profile barrel

Why oh why can't they make a modern version of the original 27 in stainless? I know they currently make a 627, but the barrel profile is hideous to my eye.

Mim parts are fine, 8 shot cylinder is fine, moon clips are fine too.... and though I'd prefer a square butt, I'd be fine with round as well.

just make a 3.5" and 5" version with the checkering down the top, light weight barrel profile like the original 27. I'd prefer original style roll marks but they could atleast make the laser markings deep enough that they DONT wear off, and for heavens sake finally ditch the damn lock..... or atleast give the customer the option of choosing.

Ok, so I also have a lock rant I have to get off my chest, so if you don't want to hear it stop reading now.
I apologize, but do they really think people paying $800 for a revolver are just leaving them lay around for kids to play with for crying out loud.....

I may be alone here, but it seems to me that anybody buying high dollar revolvers these days are "gun people" and as such they generally are already versed in safe gun handling, besides, S&W already does a few J frames with and without locks, can't they do the same with modern K, L, N and X frames? They put out the m&p shields without safety locks which to my way of thinking are far more dangerous to a novice gun handler or child.

Come on S&W, give me the option to buy modern revolvers WITHOUT the IL system.... Please!!!!

There's a long line of use who want a 627 "Mountain Gun"

Edit:
Or give it a matte finish and call it a 628?

Yes indeed, a modernized 28 in stainless(628)would be a huge step in the right direction, make it an 8 shot bead blasted finish without the checkered top strap and no lock.... yeah... I could get into that.....

So there you go S&W, all you have to do is make some lightweight profiled 627 barrels.... and stop milling out the IL cuts.... slap those barrels on the frame and stamp them 628.

Once you get that line running pull a few and checker the top strap, serrate the grip frame, put a premium polish on it and stamp them 627 so I can buy one and move on to the next major world issue I need to fix.

Glad to see you feel the same as I do. I started the same type thread in early April right here. I'll even live with the lock, but I really want a 4-5" traditional styled barrel. The 627 Pro I have is a fun gun to shoot and accurate, but to me it's ugly as a baboon's butt with that slab sided barrel.
