I'm thinking of sending mine off to Mark Hartshorne for just that, RB and chop to 3 inch.
Having picked up a NYSP 681 makes my old one somewhat "expendable".

I prefer fixed sights and a round butt on a carry revolver. 581/681's have fixed sights and come only with square butts, usually with 4 inch barrels. I don't understand what they were thinking.
A 3" barrel round butt fixed sight no lock L-frame would be just right IMO. Seven holes in the cylinder a bonus.

My wife "stole" my 4 inch square butt 681 after I put Crimson Trace grips on it. It was okay since I prefer RB guns anyway. When someone tells me they're "looking for a little gun for my wife." I show them my wife's "little gun."

Thanks for the link ladder13. Can't wait to see your 681 when it's finished.

I've wanted a RB 681 for decades... but in 4". A friend had a RB 4" 10 or 13 HB that was a dream.
