Default Fantasy gun thread

We all have configurations we would like to see made. Post yours up in here.

Mine:

aluminum K frame
round butt
adjustable sights
5" aluminum (steel sleeved) half lug barrel
10 shot 22lr
matte black finish
checkered banana grips

And a modern +P 3" version of a model 12 round butt. No fancy ****, straight retro styling.

There is already another place for that called "Smith & Wesson - The Wish List".
It's at the bottom of General Topics.

Bob, with all due respect, you do realize this is the S&W Forum? To each his own however. All my very best, Joe {who has carried and used J-Frames for the last 47 years}.

N frame
3.5" Barrel in same configuration as the M27 with that barrel length
Square butt
Blued
.44 Special and .45 ACP
Otherwise, same configuration of 27-2 or earlier.

Straight up fantasy? How about a 357 Maximum N frame or a 445 super mag X frame.

The Governor "Frontier Justice" XVR with a 4" half-lug barrel, adjustable rear sights.

A Magnum variant of the Governor built on the X Frame chambered in 460 S&W Magnum and .410 Bore 3" Shotshells.

I'm a fan of the combination .45LC/.410 Bore Revolvers like the Taurus Judge and Smith & Wesson Governor, but I'd like one chambered in a more powerful magnum cartridge. Taurus makes one called the Raging Judge chambered in .454 Casull/.410, but it's massively overbuilt, extremely heavy, and doesn't look anything like the regular Judge or Governor. Furthermore, unlike some other Taurus brand firearms, the Raging Judge isn't bargain-priced, ergo if Smith & Wesson chose to compete with it, the price difference between the two would be much closer than it is between the Judge and Governor, thus making it more than just an attractive alternative, but an all around better option.

The versatility of such a firearm would be unprecedented, considering that it would be capable of chambering .410 Bore 2.5" and 3" Shotshells, .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .460 S&W Magnum, and .45 ACP with moon clips all in the same configuration without needing to swap out the cylinder or anything. As such, it could easily be marketed as the ultimate Wilderness Defense Revolver, capable of handling anything from small poisonous snakes to a mighty Grizzly Bear.

Default I just don't get this at all....

3. learn to point shoot sights are way over rated
The LCR by Ruger is 10x the better gun than any J-frame and even looks better.

The 3 642's I once own were all junk with everyone of them a different trigger feel.[/QUOTE]

And here I thought that my two J frames were as good as any gun out there and better than most. Shows you what I know.

1. A cap and ball Model 625 with extra cylinders swapped with Taurus' quick cylinder change system. Admittedly I'm not holding my breath till one makes it into the local gun store but since Taurus has demonstrated that push button yoke releases are possible --

2. A 610 with the Mountain Gun's slim barrel extended to 5" and an extra .38-40 Winchester cylinder.

While you might be the better back alley street fighter, lots of luck hunting or competing in matches with point shooting.

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with preferring Rugers over comparable S&Ws and saying so here.

Mine is simple. A 640 pro with 3” barrel and possibly 6 round cylinder. Direct competition to the Kimber K6s.

I've mentioned this before, but what I would really like to see is a scandium/stainless steel, round-butt K-frame in .38 Special or .357 Magnum with a 2" barrel (one-piece...no shroud), bobbed/DAO hammer, no internal lock, and a set of plain black Novak-style dovetailed sights like on the 640 Pro. Put a set of PGS Hideout Grips on it and it would be my ideal carry revolver.

Since the thread title is "Fantasy gun thread"...

I'd love a stainless 5 shot N frame cambered in either 5.56 or 308.

No lock of course.

Generally any fantasy gun of mine would cause the average do gooder to have a coronary!

I'd like to see the Model 60-4 brought back as a series... that exact same frame and barrel configuration with chamberings in 38 Spl like the original, and stable mates in 327 Fed Mag (6 shot) and 22LR (8 or 9 shot or maybe even 10.) Those three revolvers would probably cover 90% of the hand gunning I do these days and do it with panache!

Froggie

627 3.5" tapered barrel, ejector shroud, round butt, eight shot cylinder. I would also accept 3"-3.5" standard heavy barrel a-la Lew Horton's 29-3 and 629-1 3" guns.

This specimen would need to be finished off with Culina's RB Combats.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, I like Rugers and S&Ws both the X Frame and their new M&P9 m2.0 and I think the LCR is seriously UGLY. If you want a Ruger snubby, get the SP101. Don

At one point in time, Taurus had designed a variant of the Raging Bull in .223/5.56, but unfortunately it never made it to the market, supposedly due to issues with the bottlenecked cartridges expanding, sticking, and locking up the cylinder.

I'm a man of simple, old-fashioned tastes:

Bring back the K32 or the same gun in stainless. No lock.
Re-issue the Model 64 standard 4" barrel or the 10-5, sans lock.
Produce a top-break .38 S&W or .32 Long with hard rubber stocks, and don't even think about a lock.

That may be a problem Froggie...will a .327 Federal make the LOA with a .38 length cylinder??? If it would that would be great...otherwise I'd settle for a 60-10 in a 6 shot .327....and that is a no-IL -10 not a -15...

And instead of Scandium...why not use titanium for all these lightweight frame wishes... I have two Taurus titanium Trackers that don't need the stupid-going to fail flash gap protector like the S&W guns do...

So how about two titanium .357 K-frames with three inch barrels and round butts...as in a 65 with fixed sights and a 66 with adjustable....

...and back to the .327...a nice 6" 19 or 66 in .327 mite just sell...

The 38 Special is listed as 1.55" OAL, while the factory spec for the 327 is 1.47" according to the specs I found... it would appear to me that a cylinder for a Model 60 (pre-357) should be fine for both the 327 FM and 22 LR I so eagerly desire! Yep, I've been dreaming this dream long enough to work out some of the more obvious details.

My hot loaded 125 grain rounds loaded for my K-frame and Blackhawk would be a little bit long for a J-frame cylinder, but factory rounds and near equivalents should all be fine. I'm not sure I'd want to hold on to a J-frame with maximum (not standard factory) 327 FM loads. That might be a little too much of a good thing!

Froggie

Stainless K frame, 6 shot, 3” round butt, 10mm, moon clips, adjustable sights and no lock.
Stainless J frame, 5 shot, 2” round butt, 10mm, moon clips, concealed hammer, fixed night sights and no lock.
Small easy to carry metal frame single stack 10mm auto.
Basically, I want a 66, a 640 and a semi auto Chiefs Special in 10mm.

Complete fantasy, but I would love to see a 6' X frame .357 with a 10 round capacity...sort of like a big brother to the 627 Pro-V Comp.
A 6 foot barrel would make it a BIG brother!

I don't care much about the internal lock one way or the other, but I wish everyone would stop calling it the "Hillary hole". That mental image makes me want to puke.

I'd like to see the PC 945 line brought back - but it'd be great if they were compatible with 1911 mags - after all they are .45 single stack guns.

Would also like to see a PC line of 1911s that are aren't loaded with unnecessary features (i.e. forward cocking serrations, slide cuts). I'm fine with front strap checkering or magwells though - or other useful features like the ejection port cut and trigger guard undercut that Colt does. I don't mind the external extractor, but basically I'd like to see something like the S&W equivalent of a Dan Wesson Valor or Colt Gold Cup. Having the Pro Series full size guns in .45ACP would be a start.
