You know what be nice if Smith made?
Wouldn't it be cool if they introduced a frame size in between a J and a K, that held 6 rounds of .38. Like the DS? I feel like they'd be a really good idea. I guess it would be kind of like ripping Colt off, but not really. I mean they've done a lot of other sizes. I feel like a K frame is just too big for IWB carrying. But not the DS.
And as much as I like my 442, it's wheelhouse really is pocket carry and the DS frame size fits my hand better.
I know, I'm not expecting them to just tool up just cuz I have an idea. But I can't be the first one to have that thought.. Eh?

S&W tried it. It was called the "C frame". Cylinder stop was offset and it held 6 rounds. 5000 units were built and all but less than 20 were destroyed due to the offset cylinder stop causing assembly and testing problems. Named the Model 73. This info came from SCSW.

I handled a model 73 at a past SWCA meeting. Cool gun, join and you might see it too .
It wouldn’t hurt to give your suggestion to the factory, but the costs involved in marketing a new metal frame revolver? Doubt it would happen, but the model 66 (and now 19) did return.

How about a new Model 28 in the classic line? Wouldn't take much to make it happen since the tooling is in place for the Model 27.

A reintroduction of the 2 or 3 inch model 64 or 65 with fixed sights would also be on my wish list for an ideal carry piece.

Or SP101 in 327, though I never had a problem carrying a model 64 4 inch in IWB holster. I was very skinny at that time to boot, just wore a loose shirt, or sweat shirt.

The Kimber K6s fits in a J-frame holster and weighs perhaps an ounce more than a Model 60-14. The new Taurus Model 856 is the same size as a J-frame (but with a slightly wider cylinder). It too fits in my J-frame holsters. Both are 6 shot guns (the K6s is .357 Magnum, which the 856 is chambered in .38 Special).
I have one of each. I also have a Rossi 462 in .357 Magnum that weighs 25 ounces. It fits in holsters designed for the Ruger LCR revolvers (only slightly bigger that a J-frame).
I have sold all my S&W 5 shot J-frames. Just don't need them. I am keeping my K-frames.

I wish S&W made a performance center 625 45 acp with 2 1/2" barrel and unfluted cylinder like the 686 and 629!

I see a larger need for the return of the I-frame or even the M-frame.
Ashlander, there is a recent recall for your Rossi 462:

Great ideas S&W would have developed if they weren't so apathetic about their revolver line:
Taurus 856 - 6 shot .38 SPL J frame
Taurus 617 - pocketable 7 shot .357 J frame (sort of - L frame cyl in K frame with J frame grip)
Taurus 445 - pocketable 5 shot 44 SPL snubbie (same frame mix-up as above)
Chiappa Rhino - google it
Then there's the 327 Magnum, which is begging for the full treatment - 6 shot J frame, 7 shot K frame, maybe even a 9 shot N frame.
Finally, the pocket gun craze is begging for the reintroduction of the I frame. Stretch it a bit and make a 6 shot I frame 327 Mag snubbie.
Or, let's start with very basic stuff - how about offering a current 3" version of all their revolvers?

People on this forum complain enough about their quality and lock features on the currant offerings. So if you really believe they are listening to you they will never offer anything new in a line of revolvers. Why would they?

It probably isn't practical enough to tool up for a dectective special sized 38....cool idea but they probably wouldn't sell enough to be worthy of their effort...

While we're posting our wishes, plus I've been EDCing an old 3" CA Bulldog this summer, I'd like to see a S&W version of the Charter Arms BD size revolver in both Scandium alloy (Nightguard series) and SS.
ETA:
Ooops, dunno if a problem but I thought this thread was in Wish List...

I would like to see S&W make, and offer for sale, a firearm comparable, in size, quality, the exquisite simplicity, and the same calibers offered, by the great L. W. Seecamp Co. Please don't even think of making them from that despicable combination of soy beans, and horse manure, called plastic!

Since this is turining into the “wish list”
A model 919- 6 shot K frame moon clip 9mm available in blued finish!
I have come close to biting on a 986 but just don’t care for stainless steel

Even better for me is the 5 shot .44 charter arms bulldog. It’s way better than it needs to be for the price.

I would like to see a model 10 & model 64 in .22 long rifle. Basically they would have the look and feel of a model 10 & model 64. but it would be chambered in .22 long rifle.
They a could call it s&w model 10-22 long rifle
Or s&w model 64-22 long rifle.

I'd just be happy to see them take production 686 or 629 and shine them a little better, nicer hammer and trigger , and some nice grips. Make a nice factory upgrade package. I dont care for all the beadblasted , milled barrel, unfluted cylinder stuff from the performance shop.
