Default K or L Frame 327 Fed Mag ?

I would buy a 3", steel frame, K or L frame, 327 Fed Mag revolver with fixed sights for carry.

I like the weight of steel frame revolvers and fixed sights.

I have:
Model 10 - 38 Spl
Model 24 - 44 Spl
Model 581 - 357 Mag

The only one they ever made I believe was the Model 632.
Good luck finding one you can afford.

Agreed, and if it's an L frame, it has to be an 8 shot.

I emailed S&W last month asking them to build a K or L frame chambered in 327 Magnum, I said 3 inch simular to 686 or 66. Round butt doesn't have to be ported. They emailed back and said "Your comments are being forwarded to the Marketing Department and appropriate Management Team for review and consideration for future production." Maybe if they heard from enough customers they may build it.

A 2 1/2" scandium J frame, for $1000 Alex.

A 4" or 6" steel K frame for around $800

I have a 16-4 4" that I reamed a 22 lr cylinder to 327 for. I have way more than $800 in it. About double that.

I have little interest in 8 shot anything. My brain is locke up on 6 shots. I never leave an unfired round in a 6 shot gun. I sometimes get a click with my 5 shooters.

6 shot J would be my pref, would be down for scandium, or stainless bringing back the 632 pro would probably be my top pick, but the 3in performance model they made is pretty hot as well.

A 3 inch K frame Centennial version with an enclosed hammer , fixed sights and an enclosed ejector rod in .327 magnum would be perfection!

Oh yeah no IL.

There's a few of us on here that couldn't wait for S&W to build these. Here's a 4" and an 8 3/8" on K Frames.

I have a piece of 32-20 rifle barrel chucked up and turned to .540 in my lathe right now. Thread it 36 to the inch and then step it down in front of where it will be in frame and turn forward portion to almost 7/16" (.438) then cut the barrel extension off a K frame barrel and drill and ream it to .4375. Head the reamed "sleeve" to about 400f and cool the "liner" to -100f and slip them together. A 32 cal barrel with an unlined forcing cone section. I already reamed a K 22 cylinder to 327 federal.

Already have some I and J frame 32s and a 16-4. But, decided to quit holding my breath waiting for S&W to make me any more and do it myself.

I'd love to see a Model 10/13 equivalent (fixed sights, exposed ejector rod, etc) chambered in 327 Federal Mag, with an extra round in the cylinder.

I couldn't decide if I should make the one I am working on a fix sight 3" or a longer and mill it for adjustable sights. So I did the only reasonable thing and ordered 2 more model 10s from J&G gunsmith specials. That brings me up to a total of 6. One is now a 4" heavy barreled 38 special. another a pinto with nickel barrel and recessed 357 cylinder, another has a 4" python barrel mounted on it and just finished milling it for adjustable sights. Just need to drill and tap the sight mounting screw on it to be done. Cheap gun entertainment. I enjoy working onthemas much as shooting them.

I'd be happy if they would just bring back the 3" J-frame with adjustable sights so one wouldn't have to pay the $1500+ they are now bringing...

Ruger will be bringing out the LCCRX3" in 9mm and .327 Federal as soon as things settle down...if they ever do... They had a 4" GP100 that I had one of and sold to a friend...was a real nice shooting gun. They never did bring out a 3" fixed sight version...

I would love a alloy J frame in 327 with about a 2 1/2 barrel. A shrouded hammer model would be a great pocket carry gun

It would take the gun building fun out of it but back in the day they did make some of these. (gotta get a better picture some day )

32Mag not 327 but in truth "stiff " 32H&Rs is about all I would want on that platform. But that's just me.

An "N" frame in 327Federal Magnum would be the bee's knees.
If eight 357 fit in the cylinder I bet at least nine 327s would fit.

You can get a 16-4 rated to .327 easily. Me? I had a custom 616 built up from a 66 no dash by Bowen, as have a few others. Perfection.

I would very much like a .327 Mag. in a stainless-steel J frame w/ 3 inch barrel, Novak rear, green tritium insert front sight, smooth trigger, standard hammer, round butt. Would like it just as well in stainless-steel k-frame. Seven shot if possible. About a .04 BC gap. Nice cleanly cut throat. No muzzle break. No threaded muzzle. No video display. No heads up. Just a plain, old, regular, handy dandy revolver. Sincerely. bruce.

I have one. It's called a GP100, but only 7 holes in the cylinder. Trouble is, the trigger is nowhere near as nice as my S&W N frame. I changed the springs to one size lighter, but it's still not as smooth.

A .327 N frame? That's crazy, mike.

Uhhh . . . okay, yeah, I'd probably buy one.

Actchewwooly, I don't care what frame. A nice blued, 6" S&W in .327 would be delightful.

I can't see S&W building another J frame for a 32 anything again. The last one didn't sell that well. Although if they were available I would buy one. What I would really like to see is a K frame 327 or even 32 H&R like the model 16, preferably 4".

I really like 32's in just about any length but most new gun buyers want revolvers in 38 something or other.

I've threatened to buy a model 16 a few times but just can't get over the price.

I would have one made before waiting for S&W to make one

Model 66 prelock frame. 617 or 648 barrel rebored, 617 or 648 6 shot cylinder rechambered.

6 inch K frame with no blankety blank lock and a 6 shot. Don't want a 7 or 8 shot revolver. If I want that many rounds I'll go with a semi-auto.

I don't know if I'd want a 327Fed in a J frame . My Ruger SP101 in 327Fed is about as small as I want to go . I would think there's enough interest for them that S&W would produce something in that caliber . There's 2 631-1's for sale right now , one's a power port . The power port is running about $600 less than the other one , anybody know why ?

Default Yes, let S&W know

Maybe if they heard from enough customers they may build it.
As RevolverP320 said keep hounding S&W. I have also been waiting for a new J or K frame to come back in 327 Federal Mag. I have frequently been in on the bidding for a model 632 on GB only to quit in frustration as the price heads north. Even the 632 isn't ideal, though. The SA/DA model with the "power port" is an abomination, and if I ever did actually have a winning bid I would send it to my gun smith to trim the barrel down past the port. Too much flash and noise for that little frame. Personally I would love a 3" K frame. Keep sending your requests to S&W, and someday they might get the idea. email to: [email protected], or good old snail mail to: Smith & Wesson

I'm a long barrel kind of guy. I had Andy Horvath put together this 8-3/8" .327 for me. The seldom-seen 8-3/8" K32

Considering that a new K or L frame would have the ugly frame profile caused by making room for the lock, I doubt I would be in the market for one.

Ruger will be bringing out the LCCRX3" in 9mm and .327 Federal as soon as things settle down...if they ever do... They had a 4" GP100 that I had one of and sold to a friend...was a real nice shooting gun. They never did bring out a 3" fixed sight version...

I know this isn't a Ruger thread, but I think that my SP101, 4" .327 is really comfortable - perhaps a bit heavy, but love it!

I'd definitely buy one, love my lcr. .327's are a bit stout if you're not ready for it, but .32h&r is a pleasure.

Have a 3” full lug .327 in project stage. I round butted it and had the frame welded so the frame & barrel flow together. Lost ambition but it looks good. Will probably have it finished in Metallife for durability, Andy Horvath cut the barrel and added a Weigand interchangeable front sight base. He also reamed and fit the cylinder. We love our .32’s, don’t we. Larry

Okay, time for some real crazy.

If Ruger can make a Redhawk .357 that is 8-shot, then I think S&W could make an X-frame in .327 Federal Magnum with a cylinder that can hold ten rounds.

No reason that it needs to weigh what a .460 or .500 weighs, they should trim a lot of the beef, but that gargantuan cylinder should hold 20% of a BOX of ammo.

That would be a cooool tool.

Is the cylinder in a k32 long enough? If so, maybe i should ream the cylinder and cut the barrel to 3-1/2" on my ugly K32, now that I have a prettier one....

Yeah, K32 cylinder is plenty long. You do you, but I would note that hot .327 likes a long barrel.

I have a 332 in 32 H&R Mag and it's hot enough in a J Frame. Ditto for my 31-1 3 inch bored to 32 H&R. I have an LCR 327 Magnum and it has too short a barrel. My wallet is not up for a custom 616 although I love the idea. Maybe a 327 GP-100? But I'm with you guys on a factory K or L 327 but please no full-lug barrel. I had a 617 and hated it. Way too heavy.

My GP100, 6" stainless .327 and my 629-6, 6" stainless weigh almost to the ounce the same. But there's very little recoil on the Ruger, of course compared to the hand cannon. And both are ear-splitting. If I put anything less than .327 in that gun, it's like shooting a .22; even the H&R mags barely flinch.

Maybe you guys building these Kframe 327 can "splain" this to me.
The with the older pre-war 32-20 Kframes I was always warned to avoid high pressure ammo as the frame could stretch and timing would fail.
Reloads were kept to just a shade over 32 long even for the later model ones.
After introduction cylinders were soon heat treated but was frame metallurgy also changed?
Was there an evolution in metallurgy that then made a Kframe tough enough to house a high pressure 327fed..
How come I never see a 32-20 recylindered even for a mild mannered 32 mag? Are they too wimpy ?
