S&W Schofield
I'm amazed that with the Cowboy Action Shooting game being as big as it is that S&W hasn't made the Schofield for sale for this huge sport.
I'm not into the game yet but I'm going to start and I like to use things that are different than most others are useing and I really like the idea of useing a schofield instead of a Colt SAA.
I'm not not sure if a Schofield is approved for SASS or not but if it is I don't see many of them being used.

S&W made a few Schofields. A fellow Forum member has one and I have fired it. NICE!!
However, they were very pricy and Smith didn't sell many.
Navy Arms imports Italian made Schofields and they do have a small following, but nothing like the Colt clones.

I believe it was in 2000 that the Performance Center made a run of them. They were kind of pricey, but have been used in SAS events.

I am not a big fan of the Smith and Wesson made second generation Schofields. They have a inlaid firingpin. Beside that and this is more serious. The forcingcone is way to thin on the start of the barrel.
Uberti has the same problem. I did see last weekend a Uberti Schofield where the forcingcone was as thin as a knifblade and ripped.
Remove the cilinder Look at the front of the forcingcone if you see a rip.
I bet that by all older Uberti's and Smith and Wesson second generation Schofields this is the case.
My Schofield isnt an exeption to. It is also ripped. It is a matter of time for the second rip and my revolver is gonne.

I have fired thousands of rounds through my S&W Performance Center 2000 Schofield in CAS and it runs great. Wish I had two of them. I really like using it when there is a stage that calls for a reload on the clock. Another member of this forum, Sixgun Shorty, has competed in CAS with S&W Schofields as well, and I know there are a lot of guys shooting replica Schofields by the Italian outfits. Its a performance center gun-it there is a flaw in the forcing cone I would send it back to the factory. They are a little pricey-if you can find a new one for less than $1200 its a bargain.

I saw that S&W pro shop (on there web site) made some a few years back, they must be nice guns.
I just really like the looks of them, I haven't had the chance yet to shoot one but I want to.
They were really shown in the movie "3:10 to Yuma", That guy could really work those babys.
Well as I said I like things that are different and that not everyone shoots, as soon as the money tree grows somemore I'll have to get some .

What about the Beretta "Laramie"
Are they any good?
Now that I've got my Winchester 94...
...and my Cimarron 1878 coach gun...
...I'm ready for CAS and instead of a Colt SAA, I wanna go with the Schofield.
