Wife is out of town so took a day off and headed to the range with a bunch of blue steel and wood firearms. I grew up shooting revolvers and I shoot pretty well with revolvers (in my opinion I guess)and I can get some pretty tight groups at 7, 10 and 20 yards. I only shoot double action. Had my 10-7 snub for its first outing, a 36 no dash with some Mustang grips - grips snagged at the last gun show for $5, my 19-3 with trooper grips that has the smoothest trigger I have ever felt in a revolver with no custom work - she may be bluing challenged but she has character, plus my EDC 442 that I am the most accurate with outside the 19. I also brought my 92 Rossi to try some steel plates and that was a blast.
I brought a Shield 9mm and was fortunate enough to run into a nice young guy shooting a Glock 19 with a optic. Turns out he was a local PD and range officer and we talked for a bit. I may be in my 50s but never to old to learn and he noticed how good I was shooting my revolvers but a little scattered with the Shield. He offered to give me some pointers and what a difference. I went from mostly low left as I tend to do with Striker fired handguns to on target and much tighter - still not gonna win any awards. He gave me his number and said he would be happy to give me more lessons and strongly suggested I invest in an optic - it is a game changer for these older eyes.
All in all a great day, bright sunshine and some real nice conversation about shooting in general.
