There are 2 Model 1908 Colts, the 380 and the 25 acp. Which are you looking for?

I didn't know that there was a 380. Having said that, I'd be interested in either caliber. I normally carry IWB loaded with a model 36-1. Sometimes, it's not convenient to carry IWB and I'm looking for a pocket pistol for shorts on hot summer days.

Thanks,

John in Soggy Tennessee!

I think in the case of the 380, you may be thinking of the 1903 Colt. That was a larger gun than the 1908.

EDIT:

Whoops....I was wrong about that. There was indeed a 1908 in 380. I was think about the 1908 vest pocket model.

You can buy those little beretta model 950 pistols in 25 ACP for around 200 on Gunsamerica.

I have had both and I think the Beretta is a little better gun and a lot simpler mechanism and a hammer to boot. I like the hammer on the gun if I am carryong in the pocket.

Go here to see the different models of Colt pistols...
Colt Pistols - Colt Automatic Pistol Home Page - 13 years of Service to Colt Firearms Collectors

There are two styles of 1908 semi-autos...
The Model 1908 Vest Pocket - it was a small 25 ACP pocket pistol
The Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless - larger than the Vest Pocket - smaller than a 1911, it came in 32 ACP & 380 ACP.

If it's the Vest Pocket you are looking for, there is one listed on the Colt forum...

Wts colt 1908 .25 a.c.p. 98% - ColtForum

This is the size of the larger of the two - my 32...

Hope this helps,
Bob S.
