Walther PPK or PPK/S
Considering getting a PPK or PPK/S. Need a reliable weapon for off-duty carry, but not terribly worried about cosmetics. I'm not really up on the newest S&W Walthers, but I would be okay with an Interarms, pre-Interarms West German, or a newer Smith if the recall repairs can be documented.
I figured the people on this forum have well-cared-for guns, and I've never been disappointed with any of my purchases through forum members, so I thought I'd try here first.
If you'll only do F-T-F, I'm in SW Ohio- Dayton/Cincinnati area.

PPK holster
Cannot help you with the PPK, but can offer a nice IWB holster by the late Lou Alessi.

I have owned several of the older InterArms ones over the years and a PP 22 from Germany. They were all good but I have not heard good things about the S&W models. I recently purchased a stainless one NIB and then sold it to a friend. He had nothing but trouble with it. He had to send it back for repair and then sold it right away after getting it back.
I love the design but I think that there are many other guns out now that offer more features, and power in a similar size package.
I would look for an older model if you decide to get one.

hammerwrought1979: thanks for the heads up. I joined the forum and sent a message.
Marshal tom: pretty much what I've heard, too. Hoping to snag a nice Interarms or pre-Interarms West German. (I did get to fondle a new S&W Walter this morning... I can see why the PPK and PPK/S have such appeal!!!)

You might also look for the French Manurhin marked PPK/s, this factory was building the West German marked pistols for Walther. They are also a bit cheaper.

Thanks for the input. I've looked at a few online, and at the right price it would be a definite possibility.

Smith is making both the PPK and PPK/S. I believe the /S is the one that is slightly larger, holding one more round. I believe the PPK could no longer be imported because of the 'points' necessary for small guns.
My last .380 (still in the safe) was the North American Arms Guardian. A very solid and reliable gun, but very small and not really pleasant to shoot after a few magazines. (Also a true double-action, so you can double-strike a hard primer.) A sub-compact 9mm might make more sense, but after fondling a PPK and a PPK/S, the cool factor is truly Bond... James Bond.

Guys this isn't a discussion area. Keep it down to just helping with a want to buy. Thanks.

Thanks!
Thanks to all who have responded. I got a lot of great leads. I am currently working on a transaction through P/M with a forum member. I knew somebody here would have a nice one available!
