Default WTB 44 Spec. pencil barrel & cylinder

Probably a long shot, but I'd like to buy a 4 or 5 inch, slim, fixed sight, 44 Special barrel, and cylinder. I have an excellent condition Model 58 barrel and cylinder that might be a trade for above, if someone has that interest. Just a note; I didn't tear up a Model 58 - the parts were salvaged from an M-58 frame that had been sheared in half by some govt agency :-(

Are you looking for one with the underlug for the ejector rod, like the Third Model or Fourth Model or one without it (Second Model)?

I guess my first preference would be the third model with the underlug, but I think a 2nd model barrel would probably work for me also. Thanks.

Have you considered a 38/44 Heavy Duty barrel and cylinder and get them rechambered and marked ? They may be easier to obtain than an original and maybe cheaper ? Just a thought .

Yes, I have thought about a Heavy Duty barrel and cylinder, and yes, that might be the way to go - anybody out there got any you'd part with?

In that vein, does anyone happen to know, with regard to the Hamilton Bowen conversions to 44 Special, does he (or the shop he uses) rifle the rebores with 5 lands and grooves, like S&W, or do they do 6, as seems more common?

Default I have a 44 SPL barrel for sale

I am no expert but I would say in is a 2nd model as there is no barrel shroud. It is from a pinned reciver. The length is 6 1/2". The bluing is very good but not quite excellent. Threads look good and the bore is bright.

If you are interested, I want $80 for it. If this is something you would like to try, let me know. I will send it out. If you like it, pay me and if not - mail it back. How's that for no risk?

MDaly:

Thanks for your offer. I had been hoping for a 4 or 5 inch barrel. Please let me do some thinking on your 6 1/2 inch barrel.

Regards

Akriet, for a slim barrel with no shroud, it is highly unlikely you will find a 4" bbl as I don't believe anyone has seen one. The 5" is very scarce so you are reducing your chances quite a bit unless you take one with a shroud and the odds aren't much better with that.
