I'm trying to locate and purchase a screw for a 1929 vintage Winchester 1894 that belongs to my Dad's 86 year old girlfriend. She will pass down the rifle to her son when she passes, it belonged to her Father who bought the rifle new in 1929. I'm trying to put the rifle whole for her.
It is missing the forward screw on the left side of the reciever. I have two Model 94's, one 1949 vintage and the other 1980 or so, post 64 anyway. I tried the screw for fit from both of my rifles, the screw on my 1949 rifle fits, the one on the Post 64 rifle doesn't fit. So, I need a screw from a Pre-64 rifle...
Here's a pic of the missing screw, the forward hole, the rear holes came from mounting a reciever sight:
Once I get the screw, any idea of how to age the screw to match the finish on the rest of the rifle? As you can see, there is very little finish left.
