Default Still looking for a 1939 S&W revolver!

I've still had no success unearthing a S&W that will come back to having been made in my birth year, 1939.

My best guess is that the serial number range for 1939 M&P revolvers would be 673,000 to about 681,000. If you have one in this range you're willing to sell, let me know its serial number, caliber, barrel length and finish, and I'll be able to have it authenticated within a week or two.

Thanks!

John

You're specifically looking for a 1905 Fourth? There are also N-frames in the 56xxx-58xxx range that probably shipped that year. Most of them would be .38/44 Heavy Duty models. You can also find I-frames in the 532xxx and 533xxx ranges that mostly shipped in 1939. These could be .32 HEs, .32 RPs, and .22/32 Heavy Frame Targets or Kit Guns.

Not that I have anything to offer at this time, but I just wanted to make sure you knew there are options beyond the K-frame revolvers.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I'm aware there were other revolvers made them, and I wouldn't pass one up, but the M&Ps were so much more plentiful, I think my chances of finding one of those would be better. I do have a 1905 Fourth change made in 1934, but that's as close as I have come to date.

I'd keep looking for a K22 from that time frame. Go out to David Carroll web site and see if he's got one listed.
