I also have a M14-4 with the "floating" hammer nose. The nose tip has broken off, so I ordered a nose from S&W. The one they sent me is quite a bit different than the old, now-broken nose, and will not fit on my hammer. The SKU for the new S&W part is 21239. My understanding is that this new nose has a spring behind it as well, whereas the old nose did not have a spring.
What part should I be asking S&W for? Anyone else have a proper "floating" hammer nose for my M14-4?

A gunsmith friend of mine has a 5-screw N-frame gun that needs a barrel replacement. Somebody brought the gun in for some work, and he found 5 bullets stuck in the barrel, with a couple of bulges along the way.
From his notes he gave me, he needs an 8" N-frame barrel that is marked 38 Special.
Would anyone have one, or a lead to someone who would? Thanks.
