FOUND~WTB: i frame grips for 38/32 Terrier (1953)~FOUND
Looking for a period correct set of i frame diamond magma grips for a 38/32 Terrier made in 1953. I don't know if all i frames are the same but a shooter set or better would be just fine. Thanks in advance.

Giving it another try. The Badgers don't look that bad, but this feisty little puppy needs correct shoes.
PM or email is fine.

Well, I think that when I was doing some research on my terriers, that Hondo44 said that the I frame, while shorter than the J frame, has the same checkering pattern, ad that he had made a set for the I, by filing about 1/8th or so off the bottom of the butt area on a set of diamond magnas for the easier to find J frame. Of course you would want to try it on the gun first, and then scribe where the cut would occur, and make sure you weren't messing up another fairly hard to find set of stocks.
Hope that this helps, and you might PM Hondo, I think he is the guy who posted that idea, and he is extremely knowledgeable...
P.S., that is a great Terrier, they are some of my favorite Smiths!!!
Best Regards, Les

Mark:
This might help, these two Terriers are both wearing their issue stocks. The top one is, I believe, close to yours in age, although blued, rather than nickle. Stocks number to the gun. The top Terrier is serial #664xx, May or June of 1952, and the bottom is 744xx, late 1954. Dates are approximate and thanks to Hondo44 for the estimate:
Not the greatest picture, but will give you an idea what to shoot for, you can compare your configuration with mine.
Best Regards, Les

OK. I can't believe there isn't a set out there looking for a new home.
