Bore should be mint and action in perfect original mechanical condition. Finish can be worn as long as there is no rust, pitting or deep scratches. Grips do not need to be original. If you have one let me know.
I may have what you're looking for but first, please clarify meaning of "original" ejector rod. I have two S-prefix early post-war M&Ps in 5 inch and both have the ejector rods that are "original" to the gun but are very different.

The first is an early post-war S814XXX (circa 1945) with the the large tip ejector rod knob and barrel cutout as shown below:

The second is a slightly later (circa 1947) S880XXX with the straight style ejector rod knob pictured below:

Let me know if either of these are of interest.

I have one from 1948-49 with a little honest wear at the muzzle and cylinder, but the bluing is still deep and the action is crisp. I don't think this gun was fired very much.

Funny, I was just going online to sell this puppy.

Sorry about that...sometimes my typing is faster than my brain. I'm looking for a pre '31 model which had an even slightly larger ejector rod knob. Although...your circa 1945 is gorgeous. I'm somewhat afraid to ask what you want for it...since it looks like it's out of my price range at the moment.

No problem . . . I should have figured that out from what you posted. Hope you are able to find that early M&P that fits your search. Best wishes, Russ

Hope you find it!

Is it filling a hole in your collection, or are you thinking of something else?
