What's your favorite gun cleaning lubricant?

Weapon Shield...............cleans, lubricates, protects............a little does the whole job very well.

I just read in the latest American Rifleman that Birchwood Casey purchased Rig products from Jackson Safety Products (who had earlier got Rig when it bought Silencio), including the right to make Rig +P Stainless Steel Lube. It appears that Birchwood Casey intends to offer +P Stainless Steel Lube under the Rig brand.

As background, a few years ago, Silencio bought Rig, apparently as an attempt to diversify. Eventually, Jackson Safety Products (big into ear protecton) bought out Silencio to get the rights to all its ear protection stuff. However, it also got the Rig brand as part of the Silencio deal. It seems Jackson had no interest in producing lubrication products, especially, +P Lube, so it looked like +P Lube was going the way of the Do Do Bird. However, the Rig brand will fit nicely with Birchwood Casey.

It may not mean much to some of you, but I'm happy. :)

Gunzilla, all in one cleaner, lubricator, and rust preventor. You can do it inside with no unwanted odors from chemicals that are present in other solvents. Here is a link to Gunzilla, and read what others have said about this product. I have also used Weapon Shield and it may be better for lubrication, but cleaning and rust preventativeness Guzilla is the king. TopDuck Products, LLC - Creators of Gunzilla zorro49

Another vote for CorrossionX!!! It is the best. Great lubricant and rust preventer. Available now at TruValue Hardware, Grainger and Bass Pro!

CLP (Break Free) just because I have an almost endless supply. Kroil is good stuff but I have never tried it on my firearms. My old Jeep has seen a ton of it :D. I will pick up some of this corrision x stuff and give it a try.

I clean with Hoppes, for lubricant I use ZEP 45 it is a silicone based lube, similar to Breakfree, have used it for years on blue and stainless, never have had a problem

A combination of Palmolive, Tide and hot water- yes even for my modern "nitro" guns as well as black powder. I've quit using all these specialized niche cleaners- they can't be good for you.

If it has copper fouling, Sweet's 7.62 is guaranteed to get it, and I do it outside with gloves on.

Renaissance Wax or pure carnuba wax for rust protection, Rig +P stainless lube for internal lubrication and homemade "bore butter" with tallow for internal barrel coating.

I figure that if you shouldn't eat it or it's poisonous, I don't really want to be handling it all the time.

I use Break Free CLP for all of my general cleaning. If a barrel is heavily leaded I have been using a 50/50m mix of Kroil and Hoppes. For real heavy leading a bronze brush wrapped with Chore Boy. For lubrication I have been using Break Free oil with a bit of Shooters Choice on the locking lugs and other high stress areas.

I see cleaning and lubricating as different operations. I clean with old reliable Hoppe's #9 for routine cleaning and with Hoppe's Bench Rest Copper Solvent if copper fouling is suspected. Lubrication is normally with Breakfree CLP.

I use Butch's Bore Shine and their gun oil. I mix Kroil with JB Compound and use it straight to clean the bore after a JB treatment. Hoppe's still smells the best, still have a quart bottle that I bought in the mid-'70's. it make a gun smell like a gun to me. Brings back memories of simpler days when we were not overwhelmed by so many choices. If you wanted to clean your gun you used #9.
