I played HS football from '58 -'62 that went undefeated my junior and senior year, went to state but lost both years to same team in championship game, went on to play at a small college for two years till I blew out a knee. Like others here, I remember the 2 a days, wet smiley uniforms and pads, laps and wind sprints, single bar face mask, no mouth piece. Started on freshmen team as off tackle, second team sophomore off tackle, junior and senior year played both ways, only missed one game due to injury. After college played flag football in service, yup, I love the game, still do.
