I have a similar S&W. It's a .22 Single Shot American model, with an amazing amount of very fine custom gun smithing to convert the gun from a revolver to a single shot .22RF. It now resembles a Colt Camp Perry model. The time, labor & cost of doing it probably far exceeded what you would have paid for several new S&W single shots, so it was a labor of extreme love, or a factory prototype. I forwarded the Gun Broker posting to a couple of serious Schofield addicts and their opinions were very positive about it being a "neat gun, etc. " They did not think it was a waste of a good gun, as it was apparently in marginal condition before, plus you can always convert in back to .45.
