Default Definitaly a knock-off

Probably made by RG - it has some of the RG "looks".

Not a Smith, IMO. Note the shape of the trigger, the sideplate doesn't have the traditional S&W shape (dead give away), and the forward lug that the ejector rod snaps into (barrel lug) isn't a S&W design. The screws holding the sideplate are all wrong, the front one is bigger than current manufacture, the one behind the trigger is bigger than anything S&W has ever used. Of course, the grips are not right, they remind me of RG grips. Another key point is that the OP says it's a "Chiefs Special, made in Germany". The Chiefs Special was never marked on S&W revolvers, and they didn't make em in Germany.
