Model 27-3 Stocks and Value Question
A buddy was telling me about a 98% 4 inch 27-3. No box or papers. He said it has perfect magnas, but according to the 3rd ed. of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson in 1980, target stocks were standard. I do not want to offend him by asking to take the right stock panel off to see if there is a matching serial number on it. I assume they were still stamping the serial numbers on the right stock panels on the early to mid 80's non P and R revolverers. I have seen this on some of my 80's K frames with magnas, but I do not own an N frame to check. Anyone know if a 27-3 should have magnas?
Any idea of a fair going rate for this jewel? He has not shot it, but I have yet to shoot an N frame in .357 that did not shoot well. I like pretty guns, but I like to shoot 'em too and she seems to fit the bill. Thanks
