We had guns around the house,a few in the corner behind doors and a single shot .22 inside the screened back porch. It was used mainly to kill the fall hog and to take a few rabbits and squrriels for the pot. I had a brother 17 years my senior who joined the SC Highway patrol in 1963 after a stint in the USCG. He was an excellant pistol shot and quickly made the state pistol team.

He would come home for a visit at least monthly and I would get to fire his Model10 service revolver as much as I wanted. The state provided him with a generous supply of re-loaded wadcutters for practice and I shot my fair share of those. Thus began my love affair with all things Smith and Wesson at the tender age of 9.

We ( my retired state trooper brother and myself) plan too go to the range and shoot pistols and .22 lr rifles later this weekend if it warms up as forecasted. Still going strong after all these years.
