This gun is one of the original Illinois State Police guns, shipped on Oct 14, 1957. Equipped with a five inch barrel and ramped front sight, this gun also has standard hammer and trigger. Currently it's wearing diamond Targets, but it letters as having Magnas as original. The gun was shipped in a two piece blue box with a tag indicating "K-38 Heavy Masterpiece" with the 6 (barrel length) over-written with a 5 in grease pencil, again a typical way these boxes were marked. The serial number is not present on the back of the cylinder or on the underside of the barrel, not sure if this is due to the special production or the late manufacturing date (likely both).
