Many years ago I went to my local shop to buy a Ruger MarkII. The only one he dad was a 6 inch stainless...I wanted the 4 inch standard barrel. The owner was a S&W guy and pointed me toward the 422...I balked at first...but I left with it.
Mine is so accurate it's boring...it will never leave my posession.

Funny...my slide won't lock back occasionally either. I talked to Smith, they seemed to think it is my mag springs...maybe so...I haven't done anything about it yet.
