This thread prompted me to check my 442's. The pin on my no lock protrudes out farther on the right side as well. Can you just take a brass punch and seat it a little better? My IL 442 is fine. I am envious about the barrel Sonny Crockett. My no lock 442 has the S marked barrel with the "hook" on the front sight. I don't care for it aesthetically. My IL 442 has the older style carbon steel barrel which I like a lot better. I wish S&W would install a barrel like that on my no lock 442. I'd gladly pay for that swap. When I have inquired in the past about such things as refinishing an alloy J-frame they always say it can't be done due to the barrel having to be removed. They stated to me that the risk of the frame cracking when reinstalling the barrel is too great. Go figure! I'm glad you got your 442 back in working order.
