I suppose I share your view, yes. Although I do not have a model 27 I do have and have had various model 29's over the years.....and I've always preferred the 8 3/8th inch barrel in all of them, the longest being 10 5/8th inch.
My 29-2 has an 8 3/8th barrel and the balance feels just right to me. The issue of better accuracy is not JUST because of the longer sight radius. I believe that few extra inches of rifling gives more stability to the bullet in flight. 8 inches of rifling instead of 4 inches of rifling makes all the difference in the world.

Just my own opinion based on my own experiences.
