"Breakfree" is a brand name and should not be considered a synonym for CLP. They make/market lots of stuff.

Breakfree (brand) CLP hasn't been used by the military is probably 25 years so I don't know what's in it or how well it works.

Military CLP, the gold standard, is a performance specification, not a chemical formula.

CLP is safe for all firearms not made with paper mache. CLP lubrication and protection is cumulative. If you strip it out with solvents (or brake cleaner ) you start from scratch and defeat one of the benefits.

Brake cleaner is probably best restricted to degreasing encrusted military surplus C&R weapons. Certainly not needed on a routine basis. And since there's no specification it may be brutal on plastic.
