I have both the older and newer versions of the 5943, and both the trigger pulls are the same - no hitches or grittyness from either version. In fact, the MIM one might be just a smidge smoother.

Yours may have a burr or something somewhere in the mechanism causing the hitch.

EDIT: Sorry, should have read your post a little more closely. With the slide closed and no magazine in place, my MIM parts 5943 does have a noticeable catch in the trigger pull. It works fine otherwise, so I'm not too concerned about it.
