The original 585-5 L-comp was a 7-shot. It was the first blue 7-shot revolver S&W did. Still the most desireable of the L-comps.

The similarly configured 4" GIGN, L-comp looking revolvers were 6-shot.

There was a small run of 3" ported barrel, 6-shot, 586-7 L-comps with 6 shot unfluted cylinders from the PC. These did not have the lock. There is a thread on them here.

The first reissue of the 586 L-comp - with that lock - were 7-shots. 586-7 IIRC.

I've never seen a 6 shot 586 L-comp with the lock. The lock guns I've seen all being 7-shot.

I couldn't tell you anything beyond that about current L-comps as I don't bother with the lock guns. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI.
