At the risk of embarrasing myself, here goes: Just bought my first handguns at age 72. Normally, I am good at keeping up with technology, but I now find myself rather stumped. This particular gun is a S&W, 9mm, M&P, 17+1. I did my first Field Strip today and I now wonder if I put it back together correctly. Prior to the Field Stripping, I noticed that I could successfuly dry fire the gun three times in a row. That was not my idea to do so, but I'm learning my way around, and that's what I experienced. Now, AFTER the Field Stripping and re-assembly, it will not dry fire in the same manner. Pull the trigger and nothing happends - - it travels back, but no dry fire. Is this gun put back together improperly? I don't want to find out at the range. Thanks for any help. Gary -- Homosassa, FL.
