Default Nickel 469

Just accquired a VERY nice 469 that was advertised as stainless but turned out to be brushed nickel.I have many 3rd gen. and love them, this is my first 2nd gen.and the price was so good i could'nt pass on it.The gun is in fantastic shape and has absolutely no marring on the barrel or bushing leading me to believe it has been fired VERY little. My question for those who may know:Standard catolog shows limited run in nickel.Further research shows the limited run was for Ashland Shooting Supply and run was 25 units.I am going to contact S&W for pedigree but thought some here might know.Purchased this gun with intent of rounding trigger guard(can't stand that hook) and trimming ears of frame where grip pin is to allow use of 3rd gen grips(yes you can..have done 2 others so i KNOW you can) and Duracoat frame to have a nice inexpensive carry piece or range toy.Just not sure i want to chop up a limited run 469.Any answers will be appreciated.
