I'm 58 and my collection is about 50/50 black/plastic guns and traditional wood and steel. I like the traditional guns much better but tend to use the others more for carry and daily use just because they're generally lighter with more capacity, and I don't care if I mess them up. They all have their good and bad points - I like 'most all of 'em!
