Among my favorite Smith revolvers is my "almost new" 625JM. To be candid, I bought it used. But, in fact, it's only a couple of years old and it has all of the features that haters of modern Smith products detest. Mim'd internals, unpinned barrel and yes, a lock. It also is among the best shooting revolvers that I own, a true tack driver. It has a very nice trigger and its nicest feature is the spring mounted front sight. I can change sights within seconds and I do change the front sight depending on what I'm using the gun for.

Now, I also own several older Smiths, including a couple of models made back in the '60s, and I like them a lot. But, none of them have the flexibility of my 625 and none of them shoot better than the 625.
