Will old pre-war N Frame grips fit on the new 1917 "Classic"

Reason: I have an old pair of 1917 grips. I was thinking of getting a new 1917 "Classic". I thought the old original grips would look good on the new revolver.

I've never really known: are "pre-war" N frames truely different and require differently manufactured grips? I always assumed all N frames were equal (aside from square vs. round)?

Please educate me.
