Not an illusion, it is. Using the factory sights you 'aim thru the can', with a little practice it's rather easy. I've not got around to getting proper sights for use with the can. The trick to using the standard sights is to shoot with both eyes open, it's pretty accurate like that. Also the suppressor has something called a 'Nielson Device' which lets you adjust point of impact by rotating the body of the can around till it matches up with poi.
The biggest drawback is cleaning it. To reach maximum suppression you should use a small amount of oil inside the first few inches on the internals. Easy enough but when it comes time to clean it is a mess.
Set aside about 2 hours to do a good job and be prepared to get filthy. Imagine crushing up charcoal real fine, then dropping oily parts into it and shaking till coated. Now clean that up.
As I said, very messy.
