Too bad about your bad experience with the S&W shotgun but, don't judge them all by the 916. That was a less than stellar effort that could trace it's roots back to the old Noble Company. S&W in their rush to pick up some more police business brought the already outdated single action bar design to market. As was mentioned here earlier they had to force dealers and departments to buy them by holding back the high demand revolvers and eventually bought alot of the police shotguns back. They more than made up for their mistake when they brought out the Japanese made model 3000 but as you know the damage to S&W shotguns reputation had been done. I've had my 3000 since 1984 and in that time I've come to the conclusion that it is a better shotgun than the Big R's 870. That's my opinion anyway.
