KPSqured's directions look good. I myself learned by watching a video on YouTube on how to remove it, and was amazed at all the gunk I found (so gunky nothing shot out when the pressure was released).
I would add that I've done it once on each of my pistols but don't consider it part of my regular post range trip/ field stripping cleaning routine. It is good to know how to do it though when I need to.
Oh, I own the 4043 and 4044 and the slide "cap" where the safety/decocker lever would be requires a dexterous hand as there is nothing to grab onto (like a safety lever) when you need to rotate it down. I had to take a pair of needle nose pliers (with a rubber barrier so it didn't scratch anything) to assist me in it's rotation.
Likely easier to understand if you saw it done vs. having it explained. I have also had Glock pistols (3 of them) and in my opinion they are much easier to breakdown, in detail, than a 3rd gen pistol.
