There is no reason you can't carry it, I carry my 1st generation pistol pretty regular. I normanlly won't carry it when I know it will get hit with the elements. We have a regular group that walks every morning, normally around 5 miles or so. I bought a M&P compact for this duty, but I will carry the Shorty a lot.
