Put it in the drawer in the desk I'm sitting at. Honestly, IF I'm at my desk, I can probably open the drawer as fast as I can draw. I have to keep my car keys in that drawer, though, as, like your friend, I will leave without it.
Oh, I "dress" for work, so it's a pocket carry. That's why it's faster in the drawer.......
